Lithium-ion battery, usually we call it energy storage lithium battery for short. In daily life, energy storage lithium batteries are closely related to our use of mobile phones and laptops. At present, the use of energy storage lithium batteries has been very extensive, but people may not be so familiar with the use of energy storage lithium batteries. How long does it take for a lithium-ion battery to be recharged, and what are the correct charging and discharging methods for lithium-ion batteries? What are the precautions in the use of energy storage lithium batteries?

Lithium-based batteries are divided into energy storage lithium batteries and lithium-ion batteries. At present, mobile phones and laptops use lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly known as energy storage lithium batteries. Lithium-ion batteries currently used in mobile phones, etc., and real energy storage lithium batteries are not used in daily electronic products due to their high risk.

Lithium-ion batteries have high energy density and high average output voltage. Self-discharge is small, less than 10% per month. There is no memory effect. The working temperature range is -20℃~60℃. Excellent cycle performance, fast charging and discharging, charging efficiency up to 100%, and high output power. long lasting. No environmental pollution, known as green battery.

How long does it take to recharge a lithium-ion battery?

For laptop batteries, mobile phone batteries, cameras, MP3\MP4\PSP energy storage lithium batteries:

1. Whether it is a new battery or not, it can be unplugged and used when it is fully charged. Generally, it will be fully charged in 2-4 hours. Do not charge it for more than 8 hours to 12 hours, as it will be harmful and useless;

2. When the mobile phone battery is too low prompt, you should try to start charging in time;

3. The activation of the energy storage lithium battery does not require a special method, and it has been activated before the battery leaves the factory. If you insist on using the popular "first three 12-hour long charge activation" method, it won't actually work.

Correct charging method of energy storage lithium battery:

(1) Standard charging method: charge the battery with 0.2C5 constant current until the battery terminal voltage is 4.20V, change to constant voltage charging, and it is regarded as fully charged when the charging current is less than 0.01C5.

The standard charging method is often used for the calibration of battery capacity. Because the charging is too slow, it is rarely used in daily use.

(2) Fast charging method: charge with 1C5 constant current until the battery terminal voltage is 4.20V, change to constant current charging, until the charging current is less than 0.01C5.

Notes on the fast charging method:

①The initial charging current should not be too large to prevent the battery from overheating, leakage and bursting.

②When the battery terminal voltage reaches 4.20V, it must be switched to constant voltage immediately. This voltage has high requirements (error <0.5%) and must be measured with a multimeter with more than four and a half digits.

Energy storage lithium battery discharge method:

(1) Standard discharge method: discharge with 0.2C5 constant current until the battery terminal voltage is 2.75V.

Because it is difficult to meet this condition in daily use, it is of little significance. This method is mainly used for the calibration of battery capacity.

(2) Rapid discharge method: due to the small internal resistance of lithium-ion batteries, high current discharge is allowed. At room temperature, discharge at 1C5 current can be discharged for more than 54 minutes (more than 90%); 1.5C5 discharge time is more than 30 minutes; 2C5 The discharge time is more than 23 minutes; and a short-term larger current discharge is allowed.

Matters needing attention in the use of energy storage lithium batteries in mobile devices

The most important tips for the charging and discharging of energy storage lithium battery mobile phones in use:

1. Charge according to the standard time and procedure, even for the first three times, first plug the charger (wire charge) into the power supply, and then plug the output end of the charger into the mobile phone charging port (power on and off)

2. When the mobile phone battery is too low, you should start charging as soon as possible; the energy storage lithium battery is most easily damaged in the case of over-discharge!

3. The activation of the energy storage lithium battery does not require a special method, and the energy storage lithium battery will be activated naturally during the normal use of the mobile phone.

Does the energy storage lithium battery need to be charged for 12 hours in the first three times? Should the energy storage lithium battery be activated?

Regarding the "activation" of energy storage lithium batteries, there are many sayings that the charging time must be more than 12 hours, and it must be repeated three times in order to activate the battery. This statement that "the first three charges should be charged for more than 12 hours" is obviously a continuation of the statement from nickel batteries (such as nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride). Therefore, this statement can be said to be misrepresented from the beginning. The charging and discharging characteristics of energy storage lithium batteries and nickel batteries are very different, and I can tell you very clearly that all the serious formal technical documents I have reviewed emphasize that overcharge and overdischarge will affect energy storage lithium batteries, Liquid lithium-ion batteries in particular do a lot of damage. Therefore, the charging should be done according to the standard time and standard method, especially do not carry out super long charging of more than 12 hours. Usually, the charging method described in the mobile phone manual is the standard charging method suitable for the mobile phone.

In addition, mobile phones or chargers with energy storage lithium batteries will automatically stop charging after the battery is fully charged, and there is no so-called "trickle" charging that lasts for more than 10 hours for nickel battery chargers. That is to say, if your energy storage lithium battery is fully charged, it will also be white-charged on the charger. And none of us can guarantee that the characteristics of the battery's charge and discharge protection circuit will never change and the quality will be foolproof, so your battery will be on the edge of danger for a long time. This is another reason why we are against long charging.

In addition, on some mobile phones, if the charger is not removed after charging for a certain period of time, the system will not only stop charging, but will also start a discharge-charge cycle. Perhaps the manufacturers of this practice have their own purposes, but obviously it is not good for the life of the battery and the phone/charger. At the same time, long charging takes a long time and often needs to be carried out at night. Judging from the situation of my country's power grid, the voltage at night in many places is relatively high and fluctuates greatly. As mentioned earlier, the energy storage lithium battery is very delicate, and it is much less resistant to fluctuations in charge and discharge than nickel batteries, so this brings additional dangers.

In addition, another aspect that cannot be ignored is that the energy storage lithium battery is also not suitable for overdischarge, and the overdischarge is also detrimental to the energy storage lithium battery.
