Australia’s largest ever electric vehicle fleet charging project has been announced, with $12 million in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).

JET Charge, a Melbourne-based electric vehicle charging company, has launched a $24.9 million charging-as-a-service programme. The project introduces a new way for fleet operators to pay for electric vehicle charging infrastructure. JET Charge installs and maintains electric vehicle chargers at customer sites, with fleet operators paying for them through a subscription fee.

The project will see more than 3,000 new electric vehicles on the road within three years.

As the federal government works towards its 2050 net-zero emissions target, they are strongly encouraging fleet owners to switch to electric vehicles to decarbonise the transport sector.
