1. Selection of VLRA battery

The VLRA battery must be selected correctly before use to ensure that the battery has sufficient discharge capacity to enable the communication equipment to operate normally; in addition, selecting a reasonable capacity can avoid the waste of selecting too large a capacity.

There are two selection methods: 1) calculation method 2), curve search method.

2. Installation and precautions of VLRA battery

Before installing and using the battery, you should first read the product manual carefully, and install and use it as required. When installing, pay special attention to the following aspects:

1) The installation plan should be formulated according to the location and conditions, such as ground load, ventilation, sunlight, corrosion and organic solvents, layout of the machine room, and convenience for maintenance.

2) Generally, new and old batteries cannot be mixed during installation. Different types of batteries or batteries of different capacities must not be mixed.

3). The batteries are 100% charged and leave the factory. Care must be taken to avoid short circuits. When installing, use insulating tools and wear insulating gloves to prevent electric shock.

4). Before installing and using the battery, store it in an environment of 0~35℃. The storage period is 3 months. If it exceeds 3 months, the battery should be recharged according to the standard given in the instruction manual.

5). According to the specified series and parallel lines, connect the battery connections between rows, layers, and panel terminals. Before installing the end connectors and the entire power system, you should carefully check the positive and negative polarity and measure the system voltage. And note: under the premise of meeting the design cross-sectional area, the lead wire should be as short as possible to reduce the voltage drop during high-current discharge; when two or more batteries are connected in parallel, the cables from each battery to the load should be of equal length. It is beneficial to balance the current of each group of batteries when the battery is charged and discharged.

6) When the battery is connected, the screws must be tightened, but also to prevent the excessive tightening force from damaging the pole embedded copper.

7) After installation, check the system voltage and the direction of the positive and negative poles of the battery again to ensure that the battery is installed correctly.

8). Use a soft cloth dampened with soap and water to clean the battery case, cover, panel and connecting wires. Do not wash with organic solvents to avoid corrosion of the battery cover and other parts.

3. Maintenance of VRLA battery

1), the placement of valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries

The valve-regulated sealed lead-acid battery does not need to be specially equipped with a battery room, and can be installed in the same room with communication equipment. Can be stacked in combination or installed on the rack.

2) Items that are frequently checked

a. Floating charge voltage and ambient temperature;

b. Whether the connection is loose or corroded;

c. Whether the battery case is leaking or deformed;

d. Whether there is acid mist overflowing around the pole and safety valve;

3) Supplementary power

a. After the battery system is installed, recharge the battery pack;

b. The battery has been idle for more than three months;

Battery discharge

a. Check discharge test should be done once a year with actual load to discharge 30%-40% of rated capacity;

b. Do a capacity test every three years, and do it once a year after six years of use;

4) Measurement of battery capacity

Method 1: Offline measurement method

a. Fully charge the battery pack that is separated from the power supply system and let it stand for 1-24 hours, and start to discharge under the condition of an ambient temperature of 25℃±5℃;

b. The terminal voltage of the battery should be measured before the discharge, and the discharge current, time and ambient temperature of the battery should be recorded during the discharge. The fluctuation of the discharge current should not exceed 1% of the specified value;

c. During discharge, the battery terminal voltage and room temperature should be measured. The measurement interval is: 10h rate discharge for 1h, 3h rate discharge for 0.5h, 1h rate discharge for 10min, at the end of discharge should be measured at any time, in order to accurately determine the time to reach the discharge termination voltage ;

d. The discharge current multiplied by the discharge time is the capacity of the battery pack. When the battery is not discharged at the rate of 10 hours or the environment

When the temperature is not 25°C, the actual measured capacity should be converted into the capacity at 25°C;

e. After the discharge is over, the battery pack should be charged, and the charged power should be 1.2 times the discharged power. <,/S,NPA,>

Method 2: On-line measurement method

a. In the power supply system, turn off the rectifier and supply the battery pack to the communication equipment. When the battery pack is discharged, find the battery with the lowest voltage and the worst capacity as the object of the capacity test;

b. Turn on the rectifier to charge the battery pack, and wait for the battery pack to stabilize for more than 1 hour after it is fully charged;

c. Perform a 10-hour rate discharge test on the worst battery found during discharge in a, and measure the terminal voltage, temperature, discharge time and room temperature of the battery before and after discharge. In the future, test every 1h. When the discharge reaches the end voltage, it should be tested at any time to accurately record the discharge time:

d. The discharge time multiplied by the discharge current is the capacity of the battery. When the room temperature is not 25°C, it should be converted to the capacity at 25°C according to formula (1);

e. After the discharge test is over, use a charger to charge the battery to restore its capacity;

f. Draw a discharge curve according to the measured data;

Method 3: Checking capacity test method

In order to be able to grasp the approximate capacity of the battery pack at any time, it is necessary to conduct a check discharge test. The method is:

a. In the DC power supply system, turn off the switching power supply and let the battery supply power to the communication equipment. Before and after the battery pack is discharged, test the terminal voltage, temperature, specific gravity, room temperature and discharge time of each battery, and discharge 30%-40% of the rated capacity until;

b. After discharging, charge the battery;

c. Make a discharge curve based on the test data and save it for comparison when testing again;

Precautions:

The above-mentioned three battery capacity test methods are commonly used methods in daily maintenance, but no matter which method, communication security will be threatened to a certain extent during the capacity test. Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the mains power from being interrupted during the capacity test, and the standby generating group should be in good condition

5) Periodic maintenance items

Monthly maintenance

Complete the following checks every month:

1. Keep the battery room clean and sanitary;

2. Measure and record the ambient temperature in the battery room;

3. Check the cleanliness of the battery, the damage of the terminals and the traces of heating, the damage or the traces of overheating of the casing and cover one by one:

4. Measure and record the total voltage and floating charge current of the battery system;

Quarterly maintenance

1. Repeat all monthly inspections;

2. Measure and record the float voltage of each online battery. If the voltage of two or more batteries is lower than 2.18V after temperature correction, please contact the manufacturer.

Annual maintenance

1. Repeat all maintenance and inspections quarterly;

2. Check whether the connection part is loose every year;

3. The battery pack is subjected to a check discharge test with actual load every year, and discharges 30%-40% of the rated capacity;

Three-year warranty

Carry out a capacity test every three years and once a year after six years of use. If the actual discharge capacity of the battery pack is less than 80% of the rated capacity, the battery pack's life is considered to be terminated.
